About the event

The Venus Collective invite you to join them for a special screening of The Punk Singer as part of their Screen Queens series which champions and celebrates female directors. This event is also part of The Spirit of Liverpool: Reclaiming Women's Histories on Film (11 - 19 May), an exploration into Liverpool's past, present and future through the stories of women. To coincide with the screening there will be a live performance from our favourite mega queen Beija Flo.

We will also be showing a short archive piece before the film Vote:100 Born A Rebel

The Punk Singer

A look at the life of activist, musician, and cultural icon Kathleen Hanna, who formed the punk band Bikini Kill and pioneered the "riot grrrl" movement of the 1990s from filmmaker Sini Anderson.

About Beija Flo

From a lovely room in a horrible house somewhere between Watford gap and the Land of Oz, Beija Flo is a calm kind of frenzy, fashioning songs for doomed lovers and don’t know why’s. With bitter lust, the love lost, dream boat lah-di-dah in a jam jar. Tearjerker and easy to talk to. Naturally, Beija Flo.

This event is open to everyone, if you have any specific access requirements please contact Tasmin at venuscollective93@gmail.com. For anyone who is worried about attending alone please get in contact with us and we can make sure a member of the collective is there to make you feel welcome!

Come and support your local girl gang!
